Welcome to Canyon View Estates #5

Canyon View Estates was designed by two well-respected mid-century modern architects William Krisel and Dan Palmer. The modernist tract homes established the foundations for Southern California’s suburban boom during the mid-century period. The neighborhood was built by developer Roy Fey in phases with HOA#5 built in 1965.

Vaulted ceilings, clerestory windows, and walls of glass connect light-filled interiors with landscaped common areas, featuring mature palm and olive trees and spreading lawns. Patterned concrete block walls, accent stone fronts and “umbrella” rooflines unique in Palm Springs are some of the distinguishing features of our community.

Krisel was also a licensed landscape architect, and designed a landscape plan that was not implemented when the community was first built. HOA#5 is reworking common area landscaping with inspiration from Krisel’s original plan.
